Teaching kids how to tinker with electronics

  • February 15, 2015

Junge Tüftler
The initiative “Junge Tüftler” invited me to support them by facilitating a hackathon workshop for kids aged 8-12 years. Using modelling clay, origami and paper the kids could have their first experience with the difference of conductive and nonconductive materials and test the polarity of LEDs. Furthermore, they were able to program small computer games using simple programs that run on drag & drop mechanisms. The advanced tinkerers built paper animals that reacted on sensor input using Arduino boards. The offer was rounded off by a stop-motion station where the children could use their created characters and develop their own small stories.
